Jayson Tatum, forward of the Boston Celtics, is relieved to be able to take revenge on the Miami Heat from the 2023 playoffs this year when they beat them 118-84 points to close the series in the post-season round. First East Coast at 4-1 game
Going back to last season, the Celtics were the #1 seed in the East, meeting the #8 Heat in the conference in the first round of the playoffs like this. In the series, it exceeded expectations. Made it all the way to the NBA finals and then slowly lost to the Denver Nuggets.
That old debt still lingers in the hearts of Boston’s players and staff, so when fate calls for them to meet again in the 2024 playoffs, Tatum doesn’t want to make the same mistake again.
“It is as it should be – we should learn from our mistakes, be able to do better and apply it to the next season. It’s probably because we’re trying to find different results this year,” said an opener via ‘NBC Sports’.
“I think this is my fourth time facing Miami in the playoffs.”
“They still make every game as exciting as ever… We just do our job. Let’s finish the matter.”
Boston closed the series in Game 5, unlike last season when it stretched to Game 7 and fell to the TD Garden.
The next step is to wait to meet the winner of the Cleveland Cavaliers or the Orlando Magic in the second round , with the former currently leading 3-2 in the series.
