Detroit Pistons set to offer Cade Cunningham a five-year, $226 million contract extension
Detroit Pistons president of basketball operations Trejan Langdon is set to offer 22-year-old guard Cade Cunningham a new five-year, $226 million contract, according to a report from ‘The Athletic’s James Edwards. Letic’
Langdon takes over as Pistons president of basketball operations from Troy Weaver, with major roster changes expected to follow, even though 52-year-old head coach Monty Williams just signed. The long-term contract was signed last year.
According to reports, Langdon’s top plan is to land Cunningham on a long-term deal. Although the 22-year-old guard wrapped up his second season in Detroit just 12 games after a shin injury, He recovered and impressed last season, averaging 22.7 points, 7.5 assists and 4.3 rebounds while shooting 35.5 percent from 3-point range.
‘I’m 99.9 per cent sure Cunningham will get a contract extension this off-season. I don’t want to say 100 percent because you never know what’s going to happen. But I would be shocked if the No. 1 pick in the 2021 draft doesn’t get a max rookie contract extension,’ Edwards said.
