Obi Toppin is focused on the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs against the New York Knicks starting this Monday (May 6) as just another opponent. Do your homework and deal with it normally, even though deep down you may want to clean up the matter of being overlooked.
Toppin is a former New York player , drafted No. 8 in the 2020 class , but due to being blocked from the power forward position by Julius Randle, he was traded to the Pacers at the end of last season.
Coming to Gainbridge Fieldhouse, he gained more confidence than before until his performance averaged career bests of 10.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 21.1 minutes per game. But players with fourth-year experience didn’t realize it. Any grudges? ‘Sad-blue’
“I feel like I did my homework like the series against Milwaukee.” Opening his mouth after the final practice meal, he traveled to New York City.
“ Just focus on everything the coach tells us , attacking and defending and playing my role .”
New York ‘s big bone is guard Jalen Brunson, who scored 40 points in three consecutive games in the first round of the playoffs. The forward, a key forward for the Pacers’ second team, said he had done his homework.
“ Between Jalen Brunson of the Knicks and Damian Lillard, guard of the Milwaukee Bucks , our opponents in the last round. They handle it differently .”
“’ JB ‘ will suck the ball more than Lillard , and both Knicks guards will play the full 48 minutes , so we’ve done our homework like that … ready to engage from the start when faced on the court .”
Toppin started 28 regular season games. But his role is mostly that of the second set of scorers. For example, in the final game against the Bucks, Game 6, the first round , the 26- year-old player scored 21 points and eight rebounds .
