ESPN’s Sebastian Christensen reported Saturday that all signs point to 28-year-old forward Kristaps Porzingis being ready to return to the court. In the NBA finals with the Dallas Mavericks, the first game this Thursday. 

The Celtics defeated both the Cleveland Cavaliers and Indiana Pacers in the past two rounds without Porzingis, who is sidelined for more than six weeks with a right calf injury, but there are encouraging signs. that the 28-year-old forward will recover in time to play in the first game of the finals against the Mavericks on Thursday after he returned to practice with his teammates since Friday. 

Porzingis’ return will be important on both ends of the court for the Celtics, especially in defending the Mavericks’ two big players, Daniel Gafford and Dee. Rek Lively and the 28-year-old forward’s agility can also help protect Dallas’ top scorer, Luka Doncic.

Porzingis averaged 20.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 51.6% shooting percentage and 37.5% from 3-point range in 72 games during the regular season.
