Pelicans serious about extending rookie contract to Murphy III

Trey Murphy III, forward for the New Orleans Pelicans, is top of the team’s need to sign a rookie contract this summer. And the value is definitely not ordinary.

Report from ‘New OrleansLouisiana.com’ that Murphy III’s new contract will be worth no less than what Cameron Johnson received from Brooklyn. Nets, 4 years, $94.5 million, but not more than what Devin Vassell got from the San Antonio Spurs, 5 years, $135 million.

The 2021 No. 17 draft pick last season played as a reserve in 34 of 57 games this season, but evidence of his outstanding performance against the Golden State Warriors in April suggests he is ready. To the real person full time

Because of Brandon Ingram’s injury, Murphy III had the opportunity to show his prowess in the game against the Warriors, scoring 24 points, shooting 6 times from long distance, with three of his 6 shots coming from distance. Not less than 30 feet

The more there is talk of trading Ingram away from the team, the more opportunities he has to become a mainstay of the 6-foot-8 inch forward. His chemistry with Zion Williamson and Herb Jones is satisfactory, and they’re ready to form a long-term trio if they just have to convince Murphy III to sign an extension.
