Nets retire Carter’s jersey next season

His jersey will be alongside Mets backcourt Jason Kidd, who narrated the video clip announcing the good news. 

Carter played for the New Jersey Nets for four and a half years. before the franchise moved to the Brooklyn side of New York City. The team traded him from the Toronto Raptors in exchange for big players including Alonso Mourning, Aaron Williams, Eric Williams and two first-round draft picks. 

Vince was an All-Star for the Nets in his first three years, making the playoffs three times during his tenure. Including reaching the second round, Eastern Division, two years in a row, post-season 2006 and 2007.

 

The 47-year-old 6-foot-6 forward ranks third in the franchise in points (8,834), field goals (3,126) and seventh in assists (1,762).

 

Carter’s parting ways with the Nets were in 2009 when he was traded to the Orlando Magic, where he averaged 23.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.2 steals. l
